Avon Products Inc. Chairman and CEO Andrea Jung and Xiaochun Luo, Avon’s global vice president of research development and chief scientific officer, recently introduced the company’s new state-of-the-art R&D Center in Shanghai in the People’s Republic of China.

“Avon’s new Shanghai R&D Center reflects our continued commitment to the China market, which remains a significant long-term growth opportunity for the company,” said Jung in a statement. “Our expanded R&D presence in China brings us closer to consumers here, ensuring that we leverage our world-class scientific talent effectively to meet the needs of Chinese women.”

The 40,000 square-foot stand-alone building located in Jinqiao spans six floors and incorporates many green principles. The facility houses scientists in the areas of product development, safety and quality testing, microbiology, chemical engineering and consumer research. The R&D Center will be used to develop beauty products, including skincare, personal care, color and hair care products.
